fakeroot-ng software package provides Gives a fake root environment, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install fakeroot-ng
fakeroot-ng is installed in your system.
Make ensure the fakeroot-ng package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep fakeroot-ng *
You will get with fakeroot-ng package name, version, architecture and description in a table
